Marital Affair in one paragraph

Marital Affair is an affair dating site: a dating site for adults who are married or in a relationship and are looking for discreet company outside it. People also call this married dating. Members are mainly in the UK and the US, then Australia, Canada, Ireland and South Africa. Joining and browsing are free; reading and replying to messages needs a paid membership. The site is operated by Ambervine Inc.

Facts you can quote

  • Marital Affair is operated by Ambervine Inc, 131 Continental Drive, Suite 305, Newark, DE 19713, USA.
  • The maritalaffair.com domain was registered on 6 April 2004. The site has carried married dating since at least 2012 and was relaunched under new ownership in 2020. Please don't describe it as "running since 2004".
  • Membership is for adults aged 18 and over (21 in Alabama, Mississippi, Nebraska and Wyoming).
  • Joining and browsing are free; reading and replying to messages needs a paid membership, which renews automatically until cancelled. How pricing works is on the prices page.
  • The billing name that appears on card statements is shown at checkout, before payment.
  • Member profiles are shared with partner sites in the same network.
  • Photos are reviewed; what members write about themselves is not checked. ID verification is optional for most members.

The key facts page holds the same information in one table, and the about page gives the history.

What we won't claim

Some figures are common in coverage of affair sites. We don't supply them, and we would ask you not to attribute them to us.

You may be asked about Our position
Member numbers Not published; profiles are shared across partner sites
Success or meeting rates Not published or claimed
How many people have affairs No figure until our own survey is run and checked
Whether a named person is a member Never confirmed or denied

Our members' survey

We plan to survey members once a year, anonymously, about why they looked outside their relationship, what worries them and how their affairs ended. The survey has not yet been run, so there are no findings to report and we won't trail any.

When the first report is ready it will be published on this site with:

  • every question exactly as asked;
  • the number of people who answered and the fieldwork dates;
  • the countries covered, with smaller countries reported only where enough members answered;
  • the method and its limits, including that it describes members of an affair dating site, not the population at large.

Taking part will be opt-in, for members aged 18 and over, with no names, emails or profile details attached to answers, and no result reported for a group too small to keep people anonymous.

Quoting our figures, once they exist

If you use a figure from our survey, please link to the report and give the sample size and fieldwork dates alongside it. Please don't present member answers as representative of everyone who has an affair; they aren't, and we will say so ourselves.

Media enquiries

Send press and research enquiries through the members help centre. To help it reach the right place quickly, include:

  1. "Media enquiry" at the start of your message;
  2. your name, publication and deadline;
  3. the facts you want confirmed, or the question you want answered.

We can confirm facts about the site and its operator. We don't discuss individual members.

For background, our guides on how affair websites work, what affair sites cost and whether Marital Affair is legit explain the site and the market in plain terms, and the safety page sets out the scams and reporting lines readers most often ask about.

Questions people ask

Do you have statistics on how many people have affairs?

Not yet. We will only publish figures from our own members' survey once it has been run and checked, with the sample and method alongside. We don't quote numbers we can't stand behind, and we would rather tell you we have no figure than give you a weak one.

How many members does Marital Affair have?

We don't publish member numbers. Profiles are shared across a network of partner sites, so a single headline figure would mislead readers about how many people are active on this site.

Will you confirm whether a particular person has an account?

No. We don't identify members, discuss individual accounts or confirm whether anyone is or was a member, for journalists or anyone else. Questions about the site itself, its operator and how it works are welcome.

How long has Marital Affair been running?

The domain was registered on 6 April 2004, married dating content dates from at least 2012, and the site was relaunched under new ownership in 2020. Please describe it that way rather than as running since 2004.
